We received a fancy cream colored large square envelope yesterday in the
mail. It was addressed to MR. Luigi Mascarpone. (thats mahs-car-ponay to
you).In the left hand , return address corner It simply said*The
President's Dinner*. On the back it read:*The President's Dinner
*Washington D.C. 20077 * National Republican Senatorial Committee*
National Republican Congressional Committee*
This is where the fun
starts. Luigi opened the letter and began to read. /Dear Friend, It is
with pride that Barbara and I invite you to support our Republican Party
by attending the President's Dinner in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, May
21, 2003. Because you are a valued friend and supporter of the President
and our entire family, I have enclosed your personal invitation to this
very special event. ......For almost three decades, Party loyalists like
you have come together from all across the nation to pay tribute to our
Republican President and First Lady at the President's Dinner........../
Luigi's coffee brown eyes got even bigger as he read the letter in
amazement. I Couldn't help it. I was starting to laugh so hard that I
was interrupting Luigi's ongoing reading of the letter. "Is there
something you want to tell me, Luigi? Now that we're married I think you
should tell me everything. Are you really a Republican in Liberal
Sheep's clothing??!!" But i just kept laughing as he continued to read
all the info that was inside the envelope. There was a little insert
entitled "George W. Bush Limited Edition Photo". It read: / In honor of
your support and dedication to President Bush, The President's Dinner
has commissioned a limited-edition, presidential photo which will be
accompanied by a note from President Bush. Collector's
quality...........is yours ......with your gift of $150 or more.
The Purple and sliver invitation was impressive and went on to give the
address: Washington Convention Center with Cocktail Reception at 6:00
p.m. and a $2500 a plate dinner to follow. I was trying to figure out
from Luigi, what kind of a list he could possibly be on. I told Luigi
that they were obviously confusing him with another Luigi with the exact
same name. I must explain something to you here. Luigi is more to the
left of center than I am.
It actually was a lot of fun getting that in
the mail. I think, though, I am a little disappointed that I really
can't go to that dinner. I don't have the $2500 to get me in. But It
would have been so nice to crash the party and just sit there like I was
a good little Republican Babe, so I could hear what they had to say
about the Democrats. Hey, RWT----I sure hope you got one of
these.......If you didn't you can complain to the Republican National
Committee and ask them why they wasted a perfectly beautiful invitation
on a bleeding heart liberal!!.. ........Heck don't make waves....I'll
send you Luigi's .
