"Warriors of the Rainbow"

Copy of IMG_3074.JPG

"There was an old lady, from the "Cree" tribe, named "Eyes of Fire", who prophesied that one day, because of the white mans' or Yo-ne-gis' greed, there would come a time, when the fish would die in the streams, the birds would fall from the air, the waters would be blackened, and the trees would no longer be, mankind as we would know it would all but cease to exist.

There would come a time when the "keepers of the legend, stories, culture rituals, and myths, and all the Ancient Tribal Customs" would be needed to restore us to health. They would be mankind’s key to survival; they were the "Warriors of the Rainbow" ........they would spread these messages and teach all peoples of the Earth. "

Why did the Europeans with all their ancient culture and heritage and technology, not have the same standards as the natives who lived in the Americas before the invasion of the White Men?

Europeans were supposedly more 'advanced', and as Human Beings their brains were wired about the same as the Native Americans....................or were they??

Ask those questions, and then ask why we did not care; or why we did not know that 'junking up' the Planet would cause grave consequences.

We've heard many 'controversial' stories in the media arguing whether Global Warming is Man's fault, or whether it is really a natural occurance. Let's just halt the Political discussion for a bit. Stop arguing! Ever hear the adage "Better safe than Sorry" ?

For those sceptics who believe all Men and Women (and large Corporations) are above the line, who are honest and true, and are never greedy, you can stop reading right now.

However, if you do not believe in Fairy Stories, hear me out. There is tons of literature and books, great documentaries, and gazillions more info on the Internet, to look at what is going on all around us.

Think about the increase in Asthma victims, especially children, the increase, overall, in Allergies (Claritin is making a fortune--buy the stock!!) in the last 50 years. Why? Duh! The air and water are bad from pollution. When the native Americans were the sole population in the yet undiscovered lands that Columbus would soon navigate to, most Allergies were Flower and Plant related. Most Diseases were bacteria related. And there were no man-made toxins to speak of.

What about the Love Canal? And if you don't know about that particular disaster, you are sure to have heard of other cities and towns that had a dramatic increase in cancers (sometimes 40%!) in their neighborhoods where major Companies had dumped their corporation toxic wastes into the nearby streams, lakes and rivers and oceans. The Ecuador lawsuit against Texaco is an example of our US corporations dumping (crude oil in this case) toxic garbage in foreign countries. The 'dumping' went on in the Sixties, and the lawsuit is only coming up now because Texaco managed to evade the issue for many years. But some of the witnesses at the Trial, are relatives of the unusually many people who died in that area from illnesses linked to toxic intake. Texaco (now Texaco-Chevron) is presently (supposedly) using new techniques to keep toxic dumping at bay. I guess they've learned that 'getting away with it' ain't gonna work nomore.

Sure, we are trying our best, aren't we? We already have two different containers for Trash that we leave outside on the street once a week. One of which is for recyclable materials, so that we do not trash our communities; so we lessen the numbers of dumpsites, and we learn to 'reuse' what we have made. Good for You. Besides, probably nothing bad is going to happen to you while you are on this Planet. Right? Do you care at all for what happens to the people who come after you? Say, like your Children, Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren? Move on. There is more.

I'll bet you really love the fact that we have to get most of our Transportation Energy from the Middle East. Oh, you don't like it? Does anyone really know the history of the technology of other Energy Resources that has been available to use for over 60 years. Too much money I guess? Our Government could not afford the research. Boo Hoo. Don't you just feel sorry for them?

Scientists and researchers have known about alternative Energy options for years. Sure it takes time to develop a proto-type and run the tests etc etc.. We could have had some of those options working for us a long time ago. And they would, as any invention needs, a certain amount of time to tweak and hone the bugs and problems. We could have done that even just 25 years ago! But now as I speak, Car Corporations are starting to come out with more Hybrid and experimental cars, than they have in the past. I guess they finally see there might be some money in it. You cannot run a business without making money...I know that!! But how much fuel money could we have saved in the long run, if we had not been dependent on Foreign Oil for all these years? How much less smog would we have had to breathe?

So where do we get the funds. Plead with our Government to help us? Oh right. You do not believe in Government manhandling us...(cry 'Rape' here). We can do it ourselves. (Yawn)

Well, I guess we should go on being very grateful to SaudiArabia, and Venezuela and Africa for helping us keep our Gas Guzzlers going. Heck, I love paying $3.27 a gallon (cheap! it was $3.47 last week!) at the pump. Now I am paying more for gas than I am in taxes!

Love those Terrorists..............don't we?

If that's what you want, you can sit on your lovely hiney and don't get active about changing our lot on this planet. Arguing about Rainforests, Global Warming, reduction of animal species, and how the Bees are dying(there goes all that honey), cancer victims, malodorous smoggy traffic on the Freeways....................... NO, don't want to go there, please.

Just keep thinking, everyday, about what you are eating, what you are drinking, and what you are breathing. The rest of you can guess til you are blue in the face. I'll just go on believing that it is: "Better to be Safe than Sorry". and try to be a 'Warrior', at least about spreading the awareness.
