Melissa responded to my 'Five Questions' Post (August 18) last week. I have been very bad in getting those questions posted, and to direct everyone to her site where she has answered them. (sorry Melissa). So here they are:
THE Five Questions:
1. Go back in time and tell us what historical figure you would
like to have met and why.
2. When did you realize for the first time what you wanted to do
for a career and why? What inspired you?
3. What giant faux pas did you make in your life? Did it affect
anyone besides yourself?
4. What was your favorite thing to do as a kid? What is your
favorite thing as an adult?
5. What is the hardest or most difficult task you ever had to
perform or emotional ordeal you had to go through?
And the Answers are at:

I ran across a comic strip in the L.A. Times about 3 or 4 years ago that has been magneted to my refrigerator. I just rediscovered it again this morning. It reminded me of a comment I left a couple of days ago on someone's Blog about Grey Davis and the recall.
It is "Non Sequitur" by Wiley Miller
THE LEGEND OF OBVIOUSMAN PART 6
Obviousman is brought to the lair of his archenemy, Professor Obfusgate...
OBVIOUSMAN: So YOU'RE the one responsible for turning people into Media Zombies.
PROFESSOR OBFUSGATE: Well yes and no.........Americans became addicted to Quick, simple answers to complex questions. I merely supply their insatiable needs.
OBVIOUSMAN: So we actually turned ourselves into Zombies?
PROFESSOR OBFUSGATE: Yes....the whole economy depends on keeping the population divided into mindless herds......so we can't have you waking up people with critical thiking now, can we......
OBVIOUSMAN: Oh, c'mon...What's the worst case scenario if people start thinking for themselves?
PROFESSOR OBFUSGATE: Let's start with all the unemployed Talk Show Hosts roaming the streets.........
OBVIOUSMAN: OK...That's one for you.....
Fox News is suing Al Franken for 'stealing' their title, "Fair and Balanced", which is part of Al Franken's New Book: "Lies and the Lying Liars who Tell them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right."
Fox claims that
Franken is "deranged and intoxicated'. Wow, sounds like Al is one big mess. And to think that he plaigarized Fox's completely amazing, well written and creative 'nom de plume'; "Fair and Balanced". Wow. Such inovators. Pure genius. I just love to turn on Cable News and have very important titles on the screen as an icon or at the bottom of the T.V. screen, letting me know what is going on. "The War on Terrorism" was on my T.V. screen for many weeks just to remind my oh so mentally challenged brain that we were 'at war'.
Getting back to Al. I saw the'debate' at the National Book Conference (at the L.A Convention Center) on C-Span Book T.V. Luigi taped it. It is there for us to view at any time, when we want to laugh and be entertained again.
Basically O'Reilly got very miffed at Al for mentioning him in the book and putting his picture(of many) on the cover. O'Reilly most definitely reved up the executives at Fox to get out there and get Franken by the proverbial big B's.
Franken stated that when he heard the complaint, "deranged or intoxicated", he thought for a moment he was a Fox Commentator...............The Saturday Night Live spark is still there. Go get 'em Al!
THE 'Five Questions' is going around. If you want to 'catch' it , you can participate here.
5 questions and
the rules:
The rules are:
1) If you want to participate, leave a comment saying "interview me."
2) I will respond by asking you five questions (not the same as you see here).
3) You will update your blog/site with the answers to the questions.
4) You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5) When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.
The questions (and answers):
1) Paper or plastic?
> 2) At what point in your life did you feel like an adult?
> 3) Who was the best teacher you ever had and why?
> 4) If you could go back in time and say or do something different, which
> childhood wrong against another would you correct?
> 5) Have you ever met one of your heroes? Who was it? Did they live up to
> your expectations or impression of them ?
Here are MY answers:
) Plastic. I remember that was an important word discussed in "The
Graduate". Benjamin Braddock was told by his father's friend that "
plastics are the future." I believed it.
2) Three levels.(Getting more adult at each level) 1. When I learned how
to drive. 2. The first time I was over 7000 miles away from home, on my
own in a foreign country, with just me, myself and I. 3. When I started
my own businss and became successful the first year. (The first time I had
sex did NOT make me feel like an adult, just fun. Like discovering a new
toy.)
3)Mr. Bondi in my High School Biology class. I loved him, I loved the
class. I had a crush on him but it was not the reason I loved the class.
It was nice that he was good looking but he opened up a new world for
me...science. Besides the amazing things I learned in class, he was also
an awesome teacher...not a snippet of boredom ever got into that class. I
sometimes wonder what ever happened to him. I would very much like to
meet him as an adult. He made such an impression on me, that if I had had
my adult head 'on' in those days, I would have wanted to get involved with
him..... but I was too stupid at fifteen....about sex...didn't know what
it was.
4) I would like to reverse the time my 9 year old self asked my friend Judy
to hide in the closet while I asked my sister, unaware of Judy's presence,
whom she liked better, Judy or her sister Debbie. My sister replied
"Debbie". It was the worst kind of gossip because the person was right
there! Shoulda gotton a HUGE time out for that.
5) I am going to get totally slaughtered for this and will probably get
stoned. But I don't give a flying fig what you web surfers think!!
It was Bill Clinton. A bunch of us campaigned for him in '92. When he
was elected he came to a Mall in our city to visit. They lined us up
along a wall with tons of security all around us. And then we waited. He
had come to where we were standing because he had heard what a great job
we had done. When it came to my turn in line to shake hands with him, all
I could think of to say to him was: "We really worked hard for you, Mr.
Clinton." He smiled and put his hand on my shoulder and replied" I know
you did." There is one thing that I know is true. He has an amazing
presence in person and I sort of just melted. I can understand his
problems with women. But my gut feeling told me, though, that he wouldn't
do anything to anyone unless they wanted it. I think Monica is a floozie
and so are the other ones.(the Flowers and the Jones psychos) He is my
Hero because he basically did a lot of things that I had wanted for this
country when I voted for him. We all forget about the history of our
presidents including JFK. Bill just got caught.

A Poem inspired by Offenbach's "The Tales of Hoffman"........
"The Ancient Legacy of the Artist's Soul"
I do not sit silent on my throne in the chasm of your heart,
I do not sit idle, stationary and mute.
I am driven by your ego,
I am the power, the glory, the transformation of your soul and the beautiful vision behind your eyes.
I am born with you as an indeterminable diaphonous fabric, barely seen but not overlooked when your senses are aware.
I awaken at your birth wth anticipation and devotion,
I assuage your foreboding and fearsome specters of bare feet upon unknown grounds.
I carry grave responsibility for your creativity with fierce pride and endearing gestures,
I lead in front, but also follow behind, and leave sweet memories in your wake, as a snail leaves it's glistening trail, slow but obvious.
I live in the gilded edges of your desires, your wrath, your wants, your lust, your fury, your passions, and your ongoing quests for knowledge and for longings yet unsatisfied.
I am your intellect and your libido,
But I linger only to release you to the heights of creative potential,
To reach the pinnacle of artistry and song, of color and art, of the written word and the imagination.
My guidance is clear,my work predestined, to temper your libido, to strengthen your mind and your soul,
To prepare for your entrance, to find the keys to unlock the door to the habitat of your soulmate.
Thus I also lead you into manhood.
If I become a devious vixen,
and lead you only down the path of everlasting pusuit of temporary gratification, you will be wronged.
If I should become too strong, too bold, to raise you solely to the intellectual and creative apex, you will be occupied only by exploration and ego,
forsaking the search for your counterpart.
If you find your soulmate is taken, if you have once been wronged in love, if your amorous pursuits are unrequited, if you search around every corner for a vision that eludes,
I have then led you down the aristic path toward greatness,
As you sing, dance, write or paint of your heartaches, I am there, I am your poetry.
I have transformed you to become the consummate artist evermore.
If your path was solely libidinous, you will shrivel.
And the once supple soul will wrinkle and sour,
accumulate with dust that cannot be wiped away,
as you reflect back and awaken in your sundown years.
But if your pretense and temerity are softened ,
if you have been balanced well,
if my vixen nature is not overpowering,
your mate will be found.
I do not have a jealous heart,
I am here to guide you towards your true destiny,
and ultimately where you had wanted to go .
If soulmates unite, I become demure and fade into your heart to rest upon my throne,
sanguine and appeased.....
I give my role to the partner you have united with.
She is the eptome of my dutiful dedications and loyalty,
As I dissolve and form into the essence of your woman,
She has become.......and I am your faithful Poetry Muse.
This Recall business is beginning to get on my nerves. How many Californians really know what they are recalling Gray Davis about? Most people will quote you what they have heard when they were signing the Initiative or what they have heard in the Media. Even if you did your own research, you wouldn't be able to come up with what really happened in the Governor's administration.
I am beginning to believe that although some of it is true, it is no different that what went on with past elected Governors. They say this is going to start a trend. Watch out ! A Governor Recall is coming to your State!
Actually I like Arnold. I did meet him once....a very down to earth individual who sounds just like my Dad (same Austrian accent). Pro-choice, pro education, pro social services and pro Gun Control..........is this man really a Republican??!!
