Most (amateur) Bloggers love to write, especially about themselves. The second most popular subject to Bog about, is anything or anyone that irks, irritates, or confounds them. Or Possibly anyone they think is the most stupid person(s) they know about.
On a daily basis, in order to stay current and connected, any subject is up for grabs. Many Bloggers include their whole names, where they live and where they go to eat Breakfast on Sundays.
I do not go that 'deep' on my Blog. Non-the-less, someone has told me that anyone can track me down on the Internet and stalk me, find out where I live, or at least be able to catch up with me at the places I mention that I visit.
He informed me that a child who had a BLog was being stalked and that the parents warned other parents of children BLoggers to be mindful. The parents of the stalkee informed the police, and are having it investigated. They said that there were 'ways' they would be able to catch up with the stalker. My friend informed me that I should be very paranoid about having a BLog. And should not get so 'personal' on my on-line journal.
I am not that technically knowledgeable about computers. I know it probably is possible, but to what extent and how difficult is it, and how much do you have to know technically, and how much info do you need about the stalkee to stalk?
I really wonder about all those hundreds or thousands of Bloggers out there, even the ones who use their whole name and address, of any who have actually been stalked. Was this child a flluke? Were they just so naive, because of their age, that they gave out much more information than they should have? After all, the stalker kept asking the child all sorts of questions through their comment tool, which they may or may not have answered all of them.
Bottom line is that I would be curious to know if any Bloggers out there have experienced any stalking or known of anyone who has.
Food for thought. Please leave a comment if you do.
